I started looking for a $3,000 beater dodge ram, and find myself seriously considering an SRT10.
Someone talk me out of it.

I'll talk you out of it. Just tell me where you can get an SRT-10 for 3k and you won't have to worry about it... lol

As someone who ended up spending almost 10x his original budget on his truck, don’t fight it.

Get a real truck.
The only really sports truck is the repu.

Those didn’t come in 4x4, so that’s the only deterrent I could think off. Oh and insurance may be outrageous.

Well a regular truck would be more practical and way cheaper, but then again why have a boring truck when you can have one with a viper engine. Life is too short to not make questionable decisions.

Lets refer to this simple flow chart I just whipped up.
Even though I’d prefer a Lightning myself, I’ll never talk someone out of buying a truck*, especially a sport truck like an SRT10.
*Unless purchasing said truck would put that person into serious financial hardship**
**But even then, for an SRT10... Worth it.

Do you like buying a lot of premium gas? Because that's how you have to buy a lot of premium gas.

It's a post 90s Dodge truck. Isn't that enough???

Someone talk me out of it.
No.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Oppo is the wrong place to have people talk you out of (potentially) poor financial decisions lol

Talk you out of it? Hahahahaha. Have you seen the CURRENT price of gas, buy it and buy it now!

I guess the question is what are your plans for it? Unless you need to use it as a truck, ie hauling, I say go for it and have fun.

Just don’t go popping any tires

After purchasing my Dakota I realized how affordable these actually are.
I regretted my purchase immediately.

I have a friend that had one. They get hilariously bad gas mileage. My Vette easily triples what he could get. That said, it's a blast for hooning. It's basically a mobile burnout machine. I think they look good too. The biggest drawback to me is that the 4door was only available with the auto.

Buy it now! Make sure you get a regular cab, so you can get the manual version. When I get a house, I’ll be trying to get one or a clean RT Dakota for a “work truck”. lol

If an SRT10 is selling for $3000, there’s probably something major wrong with it.
For $3000, if you want something that works, go for a basic and less desirable one with the V6 or the smaller V8. That way you know it’s cheap because it’s a less desirable model, not because the thing is a basketcase.
